Plain and simple, kids are our most precious resource. It is the duty of every citizen to ensure that the young people who are coming up in their community are instilled with a level of self-esteem that produces good decisions as they progress through their lives. Busy kids are good kids. Tired kids are good kids. We need to provide opportunities for kids to live in real life. Any investment we make in opportunities for kids to participate in sports, science, music, theater, and art is a good investment. Splash pads where young mothers can take their children on a hot spring day provide opportunities for kids to explore movement and participate in play with other children. It is during these play opportunities where kids develop healthy habits and the lines between race and socioeconomic status begin to blur - helping our kids learn the value of all humankind at a young age.
I don't just talk about my passion for kids. I am about kids. I have been a middle school teacher for 8 years, a high school administrator for 11 years and a school district administrator for 5 years. I have served on the board of, and was the president of, Riverton Youth Baseball league. In total, I served the community of Riverton Baseball for about 7 years. I have coached high school softball for four years and high school football for 12 years. I have been in charge of student body officers in junior high and high schools. I coached youth football for 7 years and youth baseball for 8 years.
In our world today, our kids are being taught disdain for our country. It is time that we step in and help build patriotic young citizens. Any chance we get, we should be teaching our children to love America. We can start with sharing with them how much we love this country.
